Later on in Life Love

by Marni Sheehan

Many couples get together after previous marriages and divorce. This song paints an optimistic picture.

Composed in 2005.

Lyrics

Verse 1

We got together.  What a classic

You were cretaceous and I’m Jurassic

We got another chance, later on in life romance

On the weekend, in the camper

Snuggled up drinkin’ tea eatin’ damper

A magical mystery tour its later on in life amour

Bridge 1

We don’t drink gin or whiskey

Gave that up a long time back

We don’t smoke dope no more to feel frisky

We’ve gravitated to the straight and narrow track

Verse 2

We learned to trust after a lifetime

Gotten over previous husband and wife time

We’re like a hand and a glove

Later on in life love

Bridge 2

When I’m out I don’t bother to call

‘cause I know that you can’t hear the phone

At night when I rub your back with Hot Tiger

I love the way that you moan

Verse 3

In our love life there’s still passion

But not so often and a little old fashioned

We thank the stars above for our

Later on in life love, for our

Later……on in life……..love

About Melbourne Tune collection

Melbourne Tune Collection records and publishes original folk tunes and songs from around Australia.

I started this project after realising that I barely knew any Australian folk tunes, even though I’ve been playing the fiddle for almost two decades. It wasn’t that Australians weren’t writing tunes, it’s just that there was limited publishing opportunities for them.

I thought maybe if I collect these tunes and put them together, they would have a better chance of getting played. So in early 2019 I set off with my camera and recorder, first around Melbourne, then across Australia.

This site is the result of these travels. Its purpose is to make Australian folk music as accessible as possible and promote the incredible music that’s being written today. I genuinely believe that there’s something special happening in the Melbourne and Australian folk music scenes right now.

I hope you enjoy playing through these tunes as much as I have!
